In December 2022, Water Center 21 Pahal successfully conducted a research study titled “Capacity Assessment of Stakeholders on Citywide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) Implementation.” This study was carried out under the framework of the Citywide Inclusive Sanitation Scaling and Sanitation Innovation Project, with generous financial support from ENPHO (Environment and Public Health Organization).

The objective of the study was to evaluate the knowledge, capacity, and readiness of key stakeholders—including municipal authorities, service providers, and local communities—to effectively implement CWIS approaches. The findings provide valuable insights into existing gaps, institutional strengths, and areas needing capacity building to ensure inclusive, equitable, and sustainable sanitation services across urban settings.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in promoting systems thinking, coordination, and capacity development for inclusive sanitation solutions in Nepal.
