Representatives from Water Center 21 Pahal actively participated in the “Global South WASH Financing & Sustainability Conference 2026” held in Lalitpur, Nepal, from April 1–3, 2026. The delegation included Chairperson Suman Prasad Sharma, Board of Directors members Dinesh Manandhar, Achyut Luitel, and Rajiv Joshi, along with CEO Binod Karmacharya. Their participation reflected the organisation’s continued commitment to advancing sustainable, climate-resilient, and locally driven WASH solutions in Nepal and across the Global South.
During the conference, Suman Prasad Sharma, who also serves as the Chairperson of Water Forum Nepal (Co-Organiser of Conference), delivered the closing remarks, emphasising the urgent need for strengthened collaboration, innovative financing mechanisms, and community-led approaches to ensure long-term sustainability in the WASH sector. His remarks highlighted the importance of empowering local institutions and fostering partnerships to address growing climate and water-related challenges.

A key contribution from the delegation was the technical presentation delivered by Board Director Dinesh Manandhar on the topic, “Locally Led Adaptation for WASH: Exploring Climate Resilient Financing Pathways in Nepal.” The presentation explored innovative financing strategies and locally led adaptation models that can strengthen the resilience of water, sanitation, and hygiene systems against the impacts of climate change. It also underscored the importance of integrating climate adaptation, community ownership, and sustainable investment approaches into Nepal’s WASH sector development.
The conference brought together policymakers, development partners, researchers, practitioners, and WASH sector leaders from across the Global South to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and identify practical solutions for financing and sustaining resilient WASH systems. Participation in this important global forum further strengthened its engagement in international dialogue and reinforced its commitment to promoting innovative and inclusive WASH initiatives in Nepal.
